Touching! Teachers at SKUAST raise money to save life of a student

PCI NEWS:-Jammu: The Teaching Association of the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST-TAJ) raised around Rs 4 lakh in order to save the life of an MSc student. The President for the SKUAST-TAJ, Dr Vikas Sharma, mentioned that in an initiative undertaken by the association, teachers, non-teaching staff and students of SKUAST-Jammu, they were able to collect an amount of Rs 4 lakhs.

A few days ago Padma Angmo, resident of Hemis Chomoling, Kharu, Leh, who is pursuing MSc in the Division of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, was hit by truck and admitted to Government Medical College Jammu. The attending doctors informed that her condition was really critical and it was mandatory that she be shifted to AIIMS, New Delhi as soon as possible. It was decided then that she would be shifted by the air ambulance with an estimated expenditure of Rs 4 lakhs for further treatment.

The Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, Dr PK Sharma, sanctioned a temporary advance of Rs 4 lakh for shifting the girl to AIIMS and president of the SKUAST-TAJ assured the VC that the money will be refunded. The teaching association handed over a cheque for Rs 4 lakh to Dr SK Sen, Controller, SKUAST, Jammu. In a later report, Dr Vivek M Arya, General Secretary of the association, stated that her condition was stable and she was out of danger.
