JRL reiterates shutdown call on January 13

Hundreds of leaders and activists of Hurriyat Conference (G), Hurriyat Conference (M) and Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) along with many other people, on call of Joint Residence Leadership (JRL), staged protest at Abi Guzar here against arrests and civilian killings.

The protesters, holding placards depicting slogans against “atrocities”, and raised slogans in favor of resistance movement and marched towards city center. They held a sit-in at Press Enclave here.

Speaking on the occasion, the resistance leaders, including Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Hakeem Abdul Rashid and Noor Muhammad Kalwal, condemned killing of youth and “prolonging” of the incarceration periods of those languishing in jails.

Meanwhile, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Muhammad Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, said, “thousands of young and old Kashmiris have been put into jails and other incarceration centers and Indian authorities are doing everything to prolong their confinement. Hundreds of Kashmiris are languishing in jails from decades under concocted charges. Many have been imprisoned for life and many are facing trails from a long time and are even being denied a bail.”

Reiterating the call for a complete shutdown on 13 January, Saturday, against killing at Khudwani, ongoing “genocide” of Kashmiri youth and other “oppressive” acts, the resistance leaders appealed to the people to shutdown their offices, business establishments, transport and other activities for one day and raise their voices against growing “state terrorism”.
