Dineshwar Sharma wraps up 4-day Jammu visit

Meets CM, legislators, 19 delegations

Government of India’s special representative for Jammu and Kashmir, Dineshwar Sharma, on Thursday wrapped up his 4-day visit to Jammu region.

Sharma during his visit met Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, eight legislators of ruling BJP-PDP alliance and 19 delegations of various organizations, an official said.

Sharma called on Chief Minister at her official residence this morning.

Meanwhile, an official spokesman said that meeting between the Chief Minister and the Interlocutor lasted for 20 minutes. “They discussed the emerging geopolitical developments in the region since his last visit to the state,” he added.

Sharma also met eight legislators and one former parliamentarian at state guest house here.

Members of Legislative Assembly, who met Sharma included Ravinder Raina (Nowshera), Javid Hussain Baig (Baramulla), Shah Muhammad Tantray (Poonch) and Raja Manzoor Ahmad Khan (Karnah).

Members of Legislative Council who called on the interlocutor included Vibodh Gupta (Rajouri), Pradeep Kumar (Poonch), Surinder Choudhary (Rajouri) and Zafar Iqbal Manhas. Former Member Parliament Abdul Rashid Mirza also met Sharma.

Sharma, who also visited frontier areas of Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch districts sought suggestions from legislators to mitigate the sufferings of the border dwellers.

A source said that Sharma also met the Director of Ministry of Home Affairs, Dr Ram Krishan Swarnkar and discussed prevailing situation in the state with him. He also met Peoples Democratic Party youth leader and secretary J&K State Sports Council, Waheed Parra. Retired IGP Kamal Saini and Dr. Peerzada Syed also called on the Interlocutor.

Sharma had arrived in Jammu on February 5, he visited R S Pura on first day and twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch on second and third day of his visit.
